In a community in Nandaime, Jorge Duarte, the father of a girl accompanied by World Vision Nicaragua, is surprised to see that his daughter comes home “with a hygiene kit to wash her hands and prevent the coronavirus,” he says.
Her daughter is one of more than 15,500 children and adolescents who have already received a hygiene kit to strengthen the habit of hand washing both at school and at home. The donation made by the organization is part of the Emergency Response Plan before COVID-19 in the 10 departments and 23 municipalities where it has a presence.
“The donation you have made is a great work; you are always trying to safeguard the lives of our children. World Vision is a very responsible organization and with the virus lurking they did not delay in providing my daughter with what is necessary to take care of her health,” says Duarte.
Along with the donation of the hygiene kit, consisting of two hand soaps, a towel and a package of disposable towels, World Vision Nicaragua has developed training at the school level to strengthen the knowledge of the teaching and student body about COVID-19 and the forms of prevention.
“As a mother, I am very grateful to the organization because it shows their true interest in children. I feel happy when my son receives this kind of attention because he feels important, now, he often washes his hands and urges me to do it too,” shared María Morales, mother of a child accompanied by World Vision Nicaragua in Larreynaga.
World Vision plans to deliver 35,500 hygiene kits, but has launched an online fundraising campaign to purchase more hygiene kits to contribute to the health of more girls, boys and adolescents in the most vulnerable communities in the country. Make your donation now.
